PATS project

PATS: Performance Artists Take the Streets is a youth-centred European project that harnesses the power of performance art to spark civic engagement, social dialogue, and environmental awareness. It brings together young artists, youth workers, and cultural organisations to co-create and showcase artistic actions in public spaces, demonstrating how live art can activate communities and address pressing social and environmental issues. Through a blend of online learning, international training, public performances, exhibitions, and a documentary series, PATS equips participants with practical tools and experiences to use art not just as expression, but as a form of activism and meaningful participation in societal change. The project supports creative collaboration across five countries, increasing visibility and impact of youth-led artistic initiatives and strengthening cultural networks across Europe

The PATS project creates lasting impact by empowering young artists, youth workers, organisations, and local communities to use performance art as a catalyst for social and environmental engagement. Participants gain practical skills, confidence, and new opportunities to collaborate, leading to more performances, advocacy initiatives, and cross-border partnerships. Youth organisations strengthen their methods by integrating creative activism into their programmes, enabling them to reach wider and more diverse audiences. At community level, PATS encourages citizens to see public space as a platform for dialogue, participation, and collective action, inspiring new local initiatives shaped by artistic expression.
